Our Leadership
Sharon, founder
As a seasoned foster carer with a long career in the care sector, welcoming children from all walks of life into my home and family has been a rich and rewarding experience that I wouldn’t change for the world. Each child is a unique story that I help to shape when they are in my care. And whilst I appreciate the importance of social care and intervention for adults, there is nothing quite like reaching people in their developing years as children. This work is proactive, this work is preventative and dare I say it; this work makes the world a better place to be.
Over the years, I’ve witnessed race continue to create additional needs for global majority children, and these play out largely unnoticed and unaddressed. In order for all children to have the equal protection they deserve, I realised that this had to change.
So I decided to be the change and create PLACE. It’s an opportunity for global majority children to safely confront racial disparity and build resilience in the nurturing company of people who look like them. I believe that every child deserves the chance to fulfil their true potential and through my work they learn the importance of self-care, racial esteem and cultural connection in removing the barriers that keep them from becoming their best selves.
